D8 Wednesday Recap: Celtics, Eagles Clinch Senior Playoff Berths

The St. Mary's Eagles and St. David Celtics both posted convincing wins on Wednesday afternoon in the D8 senior league; in the process, both teams also officially clinched playoff berths as well.

Here's the senior game summaries:

St. Mary's 58, Monsingor Doyle 27
The Eagles definitely did not take the Mustangs lightly and picked up their sixth straight win to start the season.  Three Eagles factored in with 12+ point efforts:  Alysha Hergott (14), Shelby Dixon (12) and Kaitlyn Schenck (12).  For MDCSS, Amelia Walsh led the way with 14 while Destiny DaSilva added in 6.

St. David 64, St. Benedict 29
The St. David Celtics continue to pile up the points during D8 play.  In this outing, Tabitha Siegfried had 20 and Emily Brown 13 for the Celts; Andrea Zapanza (11) and Alysha Grosz (6) led the Saints.

Junior Girls

St. Mary's 48, Monsingor Doyle 12
The Eagles look to be quickly improving after a slow start (they lost to MDCSS, 15-12, the first time around).  Liz Owet had 9 and Laura Kay 8 for St. Mary's, while 6 Mustangs scored 2 points.

St. Benedict 41, St. David 36
The St. Benedict Saints got their biggest scare of the season on Wednesday afternoon, holding off the St. David Celtics by 5.  Dana Milani poured in 16 points, while Jenelle Case added in 11.  Nicole Jamison led SDCSS with 13; Shannon Pringle had 6.
