WCSSAA Junior: Thursday Results

The top teams continued to roll in WCSSAA junior girls action, with both the undefeated Bluevale Knights and Jacob Hespeler Hawks posting big wins.

The Elmira Lancers, meanwhile, also stayed undefeated after surviving another close one (35-32 over Southwood).

Here's the rundown:

Bluevale 62, Huron Heights 31
The Knights lit up the scoreboard on Thursday afternoon, putting up the highest point total from any WCSSAA game this season.  As you could expect from a game as such, Sarah Hamm adds to her 15+ club resumé, with a 19-point effort.  Natalie Bishop chipped in with 11 for the Knights, while Emily Bidinosti and Katrina Kostecki had 6 each for the Huskies.

Waterloo-Oxford 47, Eastwood 23
The Crusaders also kept things rolling on Thursday night, thanks to 16 points from Rebecca Payne and 10 from Maddie Horst.  Lori Stankiewicz was tops for the Rebs, with 8.

Jacob Hespeler 42, Forest Heights 19
The Hawks win by 23 despite no player scoring more than 8 points --- so you know there was some balance.  8 points each were scored by Naomi Adams, Emily O'Krafka and Taylor Dennis.  Mackenzie Ainsley led the Trojans with 6.

Grand River 33, Glenview Park 26
The Rens improve to 5-1, though they did have to sweat it out against a now 1-5 GPSS Panther squad on the road.  Ana Milanovic (9) and Leslie Ogilvie (5) led the way for the Rens; Jocelyn Kivell had a game-high 10 for Glenview while Maggie Tucker added in 8.

Preston 38, SJAM 31
Ashley White continued her strong play in this contest, netting a game-high 15 for Preston, helping them to improve to 4-2 on the season.  Aubrey Formica also added in 9 for PHS, while SJAM's Jillian Reiter topped their scoring with 8.

KCI 46, WCI 29
No trouble for the Raiders against their rivals here.  Christiana Koebel had 16 points in the win, with Kelsey Dawe adding in 8 points for KCI.  Abby Breckles was the lone Viking in double figures with 10.

Elmira 35, Southwood 32
EDSS improves to 6-0 with a hard-fought win in Cambridge.  Krista Weins was again a double-figure performer for the Lancers on Thursday (11 points).  Emily Weaver and Kaleigh Hutt-Taylor had 7 each for the Sabres.

Cameron Heights 38, Galt 18
No trouble for the Gaels on the road as they cruise past winless GCI.  Top scorers were Ashanti Lewis (15) for Cameron and Ashlyn Beckman (10) for the Ghosts.
