The "AA" CWOSSA Championship will go today at Our Lady of Lourdes high school in Guelph.
Both junior and senior tournament feature 4 squads, with junior semifinals going this morning, senior semifinals going in the afternoon and then the championship games going afterwards.
The junior foursome includes Erin DHS, Walkerton Sacred Heart, Hanover John Diefenbaker SS, and Guelph's Our Lady of Lourdes. The Lourdes Crusaders, who won the D10 title this past weekend, enter as very heavy favourites to also take the CWOSSA crown. They were ranked #1 in my "AA" junior ranking every week (no pressure!).
Senior semifinals will see Guelph Bishop Macdonell vs. Kincardine (Noon) and Owen Sound CVI vs. Wellington Heights at 1:30pm.
Though the Celtics enter as the favourites, I would anticipate a great final between the Celts and OSCVI, who have defeated Guelph JF Ross in tournament play. If the Falcons can slow this game down and allow their 6'4" centre, Erika French, to have an impact on the defensive end, they might be able to pull out the victory.
D10 schools enter the CWOSSA "AA" tournament having won the last 7 junior crowns, and the past 6 in the senior ranks.
