The JF Ross Royals lost their opener in the Heinbuch tournament this afternoon to one of the top teams out of the GTA (and Ontario for that matter) --- the Loyola (Oakville) Hawks. The Royals fell by a 67-58 final.
Realistically, this one wasn't as close as the score would indicate. Loyola used some stifling pressure to take a 38-20 halftime lead. Ross would close to 53-44 with about 6:00 left thanks to strong play from guard Shamlo Saeed, but Loyola ended any hope of a comeback by scoring the next 7 points in a 1:00 span. They led by about 16 late in the game when Ross closed on a 7-0 run.
