Sophomore Bryson Johnson (St. David CSS '09) scored a team high 18 points but it wasn't quite enough as the Marquette Golden Eagles defeated Bucknell 74-61 on Sunday before 13,783 fans at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.
The sharp-shooting Johnson went 6-for-8 from three-point land (6-for-9 overall) to account for all 18 of his points. He added 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and one steal in 36 minutes of action.
Bucknell actually led 57-45 with 10:32 left; however, Marquette used a dominating full-court press combined with shot making on offense to help overcome the deficit and pull out the win.
In Bucknell's first game, a 68-52 road loss at #6 Villanova, Johnson finished with 6 points --- again, all from behind the arc. His 12.0 PPG through two games rank first on the Bison.
