It was a good day if you were a Gael fan.
To go along with Cameron's win detailed below, in the D10 senior semifinals on Thursday afternoon, the #4 seed GCVI Gaels nipped the #1 seed in the D10, the Bishop Mac Celtics by a 35-34 final. The Celtics had captured the previous two D10 titles.
Lindsay Thompson led the way for GCVI (14 points), while Sierra McLaren added 10. Allison Morris (11) and Logan Lane (9) had the top efforts for Bishop Mac, who will still advance to the "AA" CWOSSA championships as a heavy favourite next week.
Meanwhile, the GCVI win coupled with a JF Ross loss (45-44 to Centre Wellington) means that the Royals will be at home next weekend while the Gaels get through to CWOSSA. Erica McFadden had another solid effort for CW, with 16, while Brenann Francis contributed 11. Sydney Resch topped Ross with 11, while Silvie Cafarella added in 9.
The Gaels and Falcons will play at 8:00pm on Saturday at the University of Guelph. Along with a D10 title, the winner will have the advantage of being D10's "#1" team for the CWOSSA "AAAA" pool seedings.
Interestingly enough, in our pool to the right, 22 people had voted for the winner of the D10 title --- 13 picked Bishop Mac, 8 votes came in for Ross, while only 1 was registered for GCVI (and 0 for CWDHS).

Junior
In the junior D10 tilts on Thursday, no upsets were registered as #2 Lourdes got past #3 Bishop Mac 42-37 and #1 St. James rolled by GCVI 55-38.
Lourdes had three players hit for double figures in their win --- Monica Trimble (15), Cecilia Hudecki (11) and Madison Vettoretto (10). Rebecca Morris had 11 for Bishop Mac while Alexa Valeriote netted 8.
By virtue of their victory, the Crusaders also grabbed the D10's lone "AA" CWOSSA berth (Lourdes and Bishop Mac are the two "AA" classified schools in the D10 league).
