The Eastwood Rebels may be peaking at the right time. The question is, will it be enough to knock off the mighty WCI Vikings?
The Rebs pounded Jacob Hespeler 70-35 in their qualifying matchup, and then followed that up on Thursday with a 46-37 win at Galt Collegiate. They've been getting their usual solid performances from star G/F Michelle Hudyn; however, Caitlyn Schlegel and Lindsay Ward in particular have put in some great performances earlier this week --- the Rebs will need them to do more of the same today to take some pressure off of Hudyn.
WCI, meanwhile, enters the game as the prohibitive favourite. They have yet to drop a WCSSAA league game and are generally regarded as one of the "top 10" teams in Ontario. The talented Vikes have about 5-6 players that can lead their team on any given night; needless to say, this can cause opposing coaching staffs some headaches trying to slow the WCI attack.
It might be closer than the last times these teams played --- especially on the neutral court --- but I think WCI is going to be too much for the Rebs this afternoon.
Mark's Pick: WCI 55, Eastwood 39
Paul Stickney (Guest Prognosticator)'s Pick: WCI 56, Eastwood 44
