CWOSSA teams went a combined 3-2 on day one of the OFSAA tournament --- there were no surprises as all games went according to the seeding form.
In A at Welland, Walkerton DSS struggled offensively in their first-ever OFSAA appearance and dropped a 43-7 decision to ES Sacre Coeur of Sudbury. The Raiders managed just 1 point in the entire second half of the contest. Megan Lamont (3), Jessica Greense (2), Bethany Aubrey (1) and Rebecca Scott (1) hit the scoresheet for WDSS.
In AA at Sarnia, Bishop Mac was victorious in their first round game (details below).
In AAA at Stratford, North Park came away with a 41-28 victory over #14 Havergal. Allison DeLorenzi (6) and Holly Ryerse (5) led the way for the Trojans.
In AAAA at Hamilton, St. John's received 26 points from star Kelly Van Leeuwen and defeated Toronto's Thomson CI 64-41. Melissa Llewellyn had 19 for Thomson.
Meanwhile, #9 WCI led #3 Bishop Tonnos 8-6 after one quarter and were tied 14-14 at halftime, but lost their scoring touch and defensive presence in the second half as BT outscored them 29-7 in the final sixteen minutes to win 43-21. Lindsay Taylor and Bria Dietrich had 6 each for the Vikes.
