The St. Mary's Eagles and Bluevale Knights played a thrilling exhibition game last night, which actually had the feel and intensity of a playoff matchup.
The Eagles grabbed an early lead, only to see the Knights charge back and grab a 1-point halftime advantage. Neither team held the lead at the end of the third quarter (44-44) or fourth quarter (64-64).
The Eagles outscored the Knights 14-10 in the 4:00 extra frame to earn a 78-74 victory.
Bluevale played this one without star guard Stefan Cvrkalj, who will be out an indefinite period of time with a knee injury. He will not be playing this weekend at the Heinbuch.
I believe that St. Mary's is also currently without a key guard of their own (Isaac Lance) --- who is spending the next several weeks in the Dominican Republic on a service exchange.
For BCI, Kentucky transfer Ian Farquharson led the way with 23 points, while Adam Zack added 14.
Ben Bankazo topped the Eagle scoring list with 25, while Alex Thompson added 21.
