The St. John's Green Eagles captured the "AAAA" junior and senior girls basketball titles last night.
I was in Brantford for those ones --- here's my Record article on the action:
Meanwhile, over in Cambridge at AAA CWOSSA, the Jacob Hespeler Hawks captured Hespeler's first ever CWOSSA basketball title by taking out #1 seed St. James.
North Park qualified for AAA OFSAA by winning the senior title over Brantford CI. According to a commenter, BCI overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to tie the game 38-38 with less than a minute to play. However, a "reach in foul" was called with seconds to play, which put NPC on the line for what ended up being the winning points. NPC tacked on an extra point when BCI coach Ron Jamula received a technical foul for arguing the call.
Actually it was less than 1 second to play when the infraction was called.
ReplyDeleteCongrats and good luck to all the CWOSSAA teams at OFSSAA! As a KCI parent whose daughter has competed against all of you, I appplaud your talents and wish you all the best at the provincials.
ReplyDeleteHi Mark! Are you going to be writting for The Record on a regular basis now?

ReplyDeleteIt was more a "one time thing". They were short staffed on Saturday with other writers covering other events and (since I'd be there) asked if I'd cover it for them as well.
