It will be an all-Brantford CWOSSA final at the senior level.
The #3 seed, Brantford CI Mustangs, defeated the #2 seed KCI Raiders in one semifinal on Saturday ---- nipping them by a 30-29 final. The Mustangs made a bucket in the final seconds of the game to get the lead (and the win).
#1 Brantford North Park had no trouble with #4 Galt CI of Cambridge, running away with that semifinal to the tune of 63-17.
In junior action, the top two seeds will meet in the finals after #1 St. James beat #5 North Park in a high-scoring affair (81-58) while #2 Jacob Hespeler held off #6 Waterloo-Oxford 43-37.
Despite the ending, as a KCI parent I'm so proud of our girls -- way to go Raiders.
ReplyDeleteThe B.C.I. girls, down by 10 at the start of the 4th quarter rallied to tie the game at 38 to 38. With .09 seconds to go the official called a reach in foul at center court to put N.P.C on the line and thus end the game. No official should be the deciding factor in any game let alone a championship one. Unless the foul prevented a chance for a basket or was a blatant foul the players should have had the opportunity to decide the game in overtime. Both coaches agreed it was a lousy way to end a tremendous game.
