The Rockway Flames' posted a big opening win on the opening day of D8 senior boys basketball, putting up some big points en route to a 74-45 victory over the other "A" school in the league, the PRDG Chevalier.
The Flames received a balanced scoring effort from their roster, led by 15 from star guard Josh Klassen and 14 from rookie Jordan Fayez.
David Noley had the first ever 20+ performance in PRDG senior boys history (at least as far as this website is concerned....) with a 25 point effort. Dylan Floyd added in 10 in the victory.
In other senior action on Wednesday, the St. Mary's Eagles got off to a strong start with a 65-41 win over St. Benedict. Scoring details were unavaiable from source.
The other senior showdown saw St. David roll over the rebuilding Monsingor Doyle Mustangs by a 55-19 final. Jeff Scanlon and Tyson Lavigne had 9 each for the Celts, while Roberto Artwell had 8 and Mani Singh 5 for the Stangs.
With only 5 teams in the D8 junior circuit this year, there was only one game on Wednesday. The St. Mary's Eagles, the preseason favourite to take the D8 league, blasted St. Benedict 68-28.
