This goes up to last Thursday, so doesn't include this weekend's tournament games:
Junior - Tyler Hergott & Mike Blumel, St. Mary's
Hergott (grade 10) and Blumel (grade 9) are two key reasons as to why the Eagles are off to an undefeated start to the season. They were also instrumental in helping the Eagles go 4-for-4 last weekend in the SJAM tournament, with quality wins over Grand River, SJAM, Forest Heights, and JF Ross. In the semifinal win against FHCI, Hergott drilled the go-ahead three-pointer with under 2:00 to play while Blumel (21 points that game) helped seal the win with two free-throws. Hergott would lead the way for St. Mary's (19) in the championship final.
The Eagles are currently undefeated and my current #1 "AAAA" ranked school.
Senior - Erist Wame, Glenview Park
The GPSS Panthers went 2-0 last week, and pulled off an upset win on the road of Preston HS thanks in part to Wame's 33 point outburst. The grade 11 student has had little trouble adjusting to the senior game, as he also poured in his first 20+ effort (21) a week earlier against SJAM.
