D8 Results: Monday

No surprises in D8 action on Monday, but here's how things played out:

Junior

St. Mary's 52, Rockway 20
SMHS:  Eric Duong 9, Mike Blumel 8
RMC:  Nas Sabrie 6, Jacob Reusser 5

Resurrection 50, St. Benedict 36
RCSS:  Jacob Gilbert 17, Adam Schneider 11
SBCSS:  Erwin Zapanza 12, Jessie Sawyer 8

D8 Junior Standings
1.  St. Mary's 3-0
2.  Resurrection 2-1
3.  St. Benedict 2-2
4.  St. David 1-2
5.  Rockway 0-3

Senior

St. Mary's 86, Rockway 42
My Pick:  SMHS
The Eagles continue to put up some impressive offensive numbers; however, the lone 20+ scorer in this game actually game from Rockway (Josh Klassen, 22).  Michael Hewson added 7 for RMC, while the Eagles were led by Ben Bankazo with 17 and Clint Cybulski who scored 14.

Resurrection 57, St. Benedict 37
My Pick:  RCSS
The Phoenix may have had a bit of a "tournament hangover" as they started out slowly in this one before pulling away in the second half.  Mike Pereira (12) and Tyler Schneider (11) had the top Rez performances, while Kueth Geng netted 11 for the Saints.  Andrew Mwangi (RCSS) did not play due to injury.

St. David 45, PRDG 17
My Pick:  SDCSS
The Celtics did it on defense on Monday night, limiting PRDG to less than 1/2 of what Resurrection or St. Mary's allowed during their league games.  Tyson Lavigne had 12 for the Celtics, while scoring threat David Nolet had 12 of PRDG's 17 points.

Senior Standings
1.  Resurrection 5-0
T2.  St. Mary's 4-1
T2.  St. David 4-1
T4.  Rockway 2-3
T4.  St. Benedict 2-3
6.  PRDG 1-5
