Mark's All-CWOSSA Team: Junior Girls Edition

Senior team to follow in the next day or two.

For the juniors, we'll award 5 "first team all-CWOSSA" awards and 10 "second team all-CWOSSA" awards.

First Team All-CWOSSA

Brittany Gazzola, St. James
Gazzola was an outstanding shooter who was a key reason as to why the St. James Lions had the success that they did during the 2010 campaign.  She also led all junior girls with the number of "15+" scoring performances, with 14.

Natalie Bishop, Bluevale
Bishop was a key member of the Knights' squad that captured the WCSSAA junior girls title and advanced to the CWOSSA "AAAA" championship team.  As Bluevale's PG, she demonstrated a tremendous skill-set including shooting, ball-handling and her ability to run the offense.  Look for a smooth transition for Bishop on the Knights' senior squad next year.

Braelyn Verschoore, St. John's
The St. John's senior girls get a lot more publicity but it was Verschoore's guard skills that were key in helping the junior Green Eagles go undefeated during the 2010 season.  She's got excellent range on her jumper and is equally sound on the defensive end.

Monica Trimble, Lourdes
An excellent all-around player, Trimble was an important piece of the OLOL Crusaders' run to both the D10 & CWOSSA "AA" titles.  If the name sounds familiar, her older brother Jordan was one of the top D10 junior players last season as well (now on the senior squad).

Taylor Dennis, Jacob Hespeler
The first-team is "guard heavy", and Dennis is no exception.  She's an excellent penetrator, and has a great mid-range game (which I find is often overlooked in skills development).  If statistics were kept, I'd bet she'd have led WCSSAA in assists as well.

All-CWOSSA Second Team (10)
Nicole Bauman, Wellington Heights SS
Hannah Fishbein, Bluevale CI
Chelsey Gazzola, St. James HS
Christiana Koebel, Kitchener CI
Dana Milani, St. Benedict CSS
Rebecca Morris, Bishop Macdonell
Megan Thompson, St. John's College
Ashley White, Preston HS
Brooklyn Wright, Jacob Hespeler SS
Jamie Young, Guelph CVI
