The Waterloo CI Vikings were defeated in the opening round of the Knights-Vikings Classic today by a scrappy Stratford St. Mike's Warriors squad on a half court "buzzer beater" ---- which gave the Warriors a 48-47 win.
On the opposite side of the draw, meanwhile, the Bluevale Knights held off the Stratford Central Rams 61-43, backed by 15 points from Karsten Beney.
The Knights (my #1 AAAA school) will advance to play a 6:30pm game against Guelph St. James (my #1 AAA school) who defeated Grand River CI 69-51. Ryan Higgins (STJ) and Osama Qahwash (GRCI) had 23 each for their respective schools.
In the second game at WCI, St. David pounded Adam Scott SS from Peterborough 67-37. Dan Hummel led St. David with 27 points, while Tyson Lavigne chipped in 7. Matt Nelson had 21 for Adam Scott in the loss.
