WCSSAA Senior: Thursday Results

Eastwood 51, Jacob Hespeler 48
My Pick:  ECI
The Rebels came through in a close one on the road.  Patric Pincea had a nice outing, scoring 21 for ECI to lead their scorers.  Rookie Jerelle Vaughan added 10 for ECI, while Jacob Hespeler received a game-high 24 from Josh Kirkham and 13 from Brendan Vandyken.

Forest Heights 85, WODSS 41
My Pick:  FHCI
The Trojans pick up a win in their first game of the year (their game against GCI on Tuesday was postponed).  Kieran McAndrews and Dylan George had 14 each for FHCI, while Kyle Weber (7), Brett Horst (6) and Jesse Dodgson (6) were the WODSS scorers of note.

Cameron Heights 66, Southwood 52
My Pick:  CHCI
The Gaels move to 2-0 with a key road win at Southwood.  Rookies Nem Simic (24) and Vedran Dmitrovic (10) led the way for CHCI on this night, while grade 12 guard Adnan Shah was also in double-digits with 10.  Brian Doran had 18 and Mack Collins 16 to pace the Sabres.

Bluevale 51, KCI 27
My Pick:  BCI
The Knights did it with defense on Thursday, racing out to a 28-11 halftime lead before cruising to the victory in the second half.  Stefan Cvrkalj had 18 for Bluevale on Thursday, while Adam Zack contributed 13.  Alex Galea was the lone Raider in double figures, with 10.  Bluevale is away this weekend at the SOSI tournament, but looks like Cvrkalj will be sitting it out to rest.

Grand River 66, Preston 59
My Pick:  GRCI
The Panthers again were competitive with one of the (projected) top teams in the league, falling to the Rens by 7.  Osama Qahwash poured in 21 to lead GRCI, while Filip Cvkralj added 9.   Sean Holmes (13), Chris Ackie (12) and Wes Meertens (12) were the top scorers for Preston.

SJAM 66, Glenview Park 49
My Pick:  SJAM
Ben Reyhani had a game-high 25 points as the Highlanders won both their games (as expected) on opening week.  Muhammad Khalid had another good outing for SJAM with 14 --- he seems to be developing nicely for them and (with his size) could be a key factor going forward.  Erist Wame had 21 for Glenview in the loss.

WCI 68, Huron Heights 46
My Pick:  WCI
Grade 10 rookie Alex Anagnostopoulos had 13 points, while veteran guard Alex Despotovic also added 13 as the Vikes took care of Huron at home.  Sean Samuel had a game-high 18 for Huron while Darcy Jacobs added 16.
