Congratulations to the girls for being recognized for their contributions to their respective teams! I have been wondering about selections. How were the first and second team all-stars picked? I have heard different reports. Did all the coaches in consultation with each other make the decisions? Was each school given a number of spots, at which time the coach or coaches at the school decided what player(s) should be honoured? Something different?

  2. Good question. I would believe (emphasis on that) that the picks are up to voting by the coaches. I believe that there is a requirement that each school get one all-star----Bryson noted in his blog that the WODSS & SSS picks were pending.

Other leagues do things slightly differently. For instance, D10 doesn't have "first team" distinction --- coaches submit 3 names (in order), and then based upon your team's placing in the standings you receive 3, 2, or 1 all star. Pretty simple.

WCSSAA seems to do something similar, with generally the teams in the finals getting 3-4 all-stars, the next 3-4 teams getting 2, and then everyone else in the lower half usually only gets one.

It's a good question, and unfortunately I don't have the exact answer but hopefully that's better than nothing.
