In what has to be considered a ridiculous upset, the winless Monsignor Doyle Mustangs knocked off the D8's Heinbuch representative, the St. David Celtics, this afternoon at St. David by a 57-56 score.
Josh Loehle (20) and Shayne Teet-Corriveau (12) provided the scoring punch for the Stangs who had lost their previous two D8 games to St. Benedict (by 10) and Resurrection (by 42).
Dan Hummel replied for St. David with 20 and Tyson Lavigne had 8.
I'll have more on this later, and am obviously curious to hear more from anyone who was in attendance.

wow huge upset
ReplyDelete"Rediculous" I don't think so. Was at the game and Doyle was behind by 4 at half and rallied to lead by seven with 2 minutes left. Surprised by what was shown as a one point win for Doyle as the scoreboard read 60 - 57.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of how you choose to describe it, it's a huge upset that nobody really would have seen coming before the game.
ReplyDeleteAfter earlier league losses to Bennies (10) and Rez (42), nice to see them get a win against a quality team. It's been a tough stretch down in south Cambridge these last few years, so a playoff berth would be nice to see for them.
we will make the playoffs no doubt in my mind we are going too. were going to do good, our whole team is excited and ready to go since the team did not make the playoffs last year.with big early season losses our team has forgotten about those and have almost upset st.marys and resurrection and beat st.davids once and sent the game into overtime the 2nd time we played them. we have a strong team and will do good in the playoffs
