Around the Horn - Wednesday, December 2nd

St. James, JF Ross participate at Holy Trinity Tournament
This past weekend, D10 schools St. James & JF Ross participated at the Holy Trinity (Oakville) junior boys basketball tournament.

The tournament has a pretty decent website, which includes leading scorers and leading rebounders (a nice touch) from the games:

Here's how they did:
JF Ross ---> L to Corpus Christi (48-54), W vs. Blessed Trinity (51-31), W vs. Denis Morris (55-38).

Lost in Consolation final to Streetsville SS 60-54.

St. James ---> L to Abbey Park (35-53), L to Denis Morris (37-44), W vs. Blessed Trinity (52-30)

WCSSAA Kicks Off Tomorrow
The WCSSAA league kicks off play tomorrow with all teams in action. On the senior side, two intriguing first-day matchups feature SJAM at Cameron Heights and WCI travelling to Forest Heights. Tip times are scheduled for 3:30pm in both instances.

House, Cvrkalj All-Stars
Don't think I mentioned it earlier, but both Stefan Cvrkalj and Robert House were named as second team all-stars at this past weekend's Court Heinbuch Tournament. Congrats to both players!

Random Thought For The Day
Yes, this doesn't have to do with CWOSSA per se, but I was over at the LSSAA (Sarnia High School) website when I noticed that they have an awesome evening triple-header scheduled over at St. Clair SS next Thursday.

Games are scheduled for 5:30pm, 7:00pm, 8:30pm.

Needless to say, I would love to see a league around here do something like this --- would be great for school spirit and to get fans and parents (some of whom might not be able to always get time off of work) out to the games. That said, I do understand the complexities surrounding the organization of it (i.e. many schools are booked solid in the evening hours with community groups and the like).

I think this should be something that, perhaps, the D8 or Brantford leagues should consider.
The reason I suggest these leagues in particular is due to the fact that the D8 (6 teams) and Brantford (6 teams) would make it easy to fill a night schedule (5:30, 7, 8:30) and include all teams in the action.

From a D8 perspective, you could organize at a "central location" (i.e. St. Mary's in Kitchener) and incorporate rivalries as appropriate (i.e. Rez/Mary's, Doyle/SBCSS).

Anyways, something to think about --- probably too late for this year, but maybe we'll see something in the future.
