WCSSAA Review - Thursday, December 3rd Games

Bluevale 67, Waterloo-Oxford 38
My Pick Was: Bluevale

BCI: Stefan Cvrkalj 25, Perrin Smith 10
WODSS: Kyle Weber 10, Jesse Dodgson 9

.....no trouble for the Knights on this night. Stefan Cvrkalj added another notch to his name in the 20+ club, while rookie Perrin Smith had a double-digit debut for Bluevale.

Grand River 60, Eastwood 35
My Pick Was: Grand River

Guards Osama Qahwash (15) and Scott Foggo (12) paced Grand River to an opening day win over rival Eastwood. Life without Boyd Vassell for the Rebs opens without a team total that was similar to some of the point totals that Vassell himself put up last year. Zaman Sindy and Steffon Heyliger scored 8 each for ECI.

Waterloo 51 Forest Hts. 42
My Pick Was: Forest Heights

Props to the Vikes for pulling out the opening day win on the road. Jasper Wesson (20) and Josh Forler (10) led the way for WCI, who held FHCI's Taylor McNaughton in check (15 points).

Southwood 58, Glenview Park 24
My Pick Was: Southwood

No trouble for Southwood in Glenview's inaugural game back in the league. Mark Stotesbury led all scorers with 16 points for Southwood.

Preston 57, Jacob Hespeler 36
My Pick Was: Jacob Hespeler

Maybe I was a little too quick with the love for Jacob Hespeler. Preston pulls out a nice win on opening day in this all-Cambridge clash. Sean Holmes (14) was high man for Preston, while Connor Paddock had 12 for JHSS.

KCI 46, Galt 23
My Pick Was: KCI

No problem for KCI at home as they double up on the Ghosts, and they do it with some defense. Arben Kalaba (17) and Darnell Simpson (7) led the way for the Raiders, while Nick Bradford (12) put in more than half of GCI's points.

Huron Hts. 59, Elmira 50
Pick: Huron Heights

The Huskies get a big opening day win thanks to big gun Shayan Butt, who had some high scoring games last year. He puts in 23 here for HHHS. Eric Alderice was the high scorer for the Lancers with 16.

SJAM 58, Cameron Hts. 56
My Pick Was: SJAM

Looks like my "game of the day" pick didn't disappoint. SJAM takes a nailbiter over on Charles St., thanks in big part to Jake Robinet's 27 points. Stefan Arezina put home 20 points for the Gaels.

YTD Senior WCSSAA Picks Record: 6-2 (.750)

JUNIOR

***No KCI/Galt score reported, if you have details please email me (cwossabasketball@hotmail.com)***

WODSS 52 (Nicholas White 13), Bluevale 49 (George Stankovic 16)
Jacob Hespeler 58, Preston 34
Glenview Park 68 (Andrew Squires 13), Southwood 24 (Cash Seraphim 8)
Huron Hts. 65 (Eric Spinache 16), Elmira 17 (Tak Shibayama 9)
Grand River 54 (Filip Cvrkalj 27), Eastwood 47 (Mirza Zahic 11)
Waterloo CI 70 (Jacob Ranton 30), Forest Hts. 58 (Javon Masters 26)
SJAM 79, Cameron Hts. 75 - in 2 OT.

Junior Picks (KCI/GCI pending): 5-2, .714

Junior Thoughts:
I guess it's time to give WCI some props. I knew they'd be good with a solid returning core, but this win over FHCI probably bumps them up into the upper echelon of WCSSAA......

Looks like a good game between SJAM and Cameron Hts as well --- double OT!
