D10 Tuesday Results - Centennial Survives Scare from Orangeville

There's a reason you play these games. That became evident on Tuesday afternoon out in Orangeville as the Centennial CVI Spartans, one of the top teams in senior boys' 4A CWOSSA, survived the winless ODSS Bears by a 56-52 final.

Curious to hear from anyone who was at the game. That said, the Bears have historically played Centennial tough for whatever reason. In 07-08 for instance, the 4-8 Bears lost their two games to the 12-0 (and eventual CWOSSA champion) Spartans by a combined 19 points.

Rob House scored 22 for CCVI while Adrian Varilla counted 11. Taylor Ellis and Cody McMahon contributed 13 each for Orangeville.

Props to the Bears for bouncing back from their 34-point smackdown received at the hands of the CW Falcons to keep this one close.

St. James 64, Lourdes 50
My Pick Was: St. James
My Line Was: STJ by 8

Ryan Higgins came through with 26 for the St. James Lions, who improve to 3-0 on the season. Mike Finoro had 23 and Sharieff Peru 12 for the visiting Crusaders.

Centre Wellington 55, Bishop Mac 42
My Pick Was: Bishop Mac
My Line Was: BM by 6

To quote my earlier post: "I wouldn't be surprised to see the Falcons win this one at home. Looks like it's going to be a bit of an uphill battle for the BM Celtics this year in the senior league."

Also looks like I should have maybe gone with my gut on this one. The MacNamara boys (Gavin 16, Justin 11) led the way for CW. Pat Cloutier had 13 and Nigel Dyer 12 for Bishop Mac.

JF Ross 71, Guelph CVI 56
My Pick Was: JF Ross
My Line Was: JFR by 18

The Royals get back on track by taking care of the winless Gaels. They used a balanced attack to do so, as they had three players in double figures (Blake Linthwaite 13/Evan Karl 10/Owen Moynihan 10).

Year to Date D10 Picks Record: 10-2 (.833)
