SJAM (2-0) at KCI (2-0): WCSSAA Preview

Time: 5pm

Location: KCI

Two of the four remaining unbeaten WCSSAA senior teams will take to the court this afternoon at 5pm over at KCI, where we will quite possibly learn the answers to two questions:

1. Are the Highlanders going to be fine without Taylor & Justin?

2. Are the KCI Raiders a solid contender for a top spot in the league this year without some of the "names" that other schools might have?

I think both answers are "yes"; however, we'll find out for sure tonight. Here's a quick breakdown:

Guards
Some intriguing matchups here. Ben Reyhani (SJAM) and Arben Kalaba (KCI) have both been making regular visits to the 20+ club. Both have unlimited range outside of the three-point line, and I expect them to both have solid outings tonight.

Regardless of how much those guys score, the key might end up being the contributions from guys like Jordan James (SJAM) and Graham Notar (KCI).

Edge: EVEN

Forwards
For SJAM, Edem Ame has been adjusting fine to senior-level competition, while fifth-year forward Jake Robinet has been stellar during league play thus far (27 points vs. Cameron). Rookie transfer Matthias Hamm has bolstered the frontcourt for the Highlanders.

On the flip side, KCI's Darnell Simpson might be one of the most improved players in the league thus far. Tristan Ruddock, meanwhile, has also put up some numbers for the Raiders this year. KCI will need some added production today from rookie forward Alex Galea.

Edge: SJAM

Coaching/Other
Can't really give an edge in the coaching matchup --- both are seasoned veterans of WCSSAA basketball.

The KCI court always provides its unique obstacles with the tight sidelines and crowd virtually on the court. We'll see how big a role that plays today.

Slight Edge: KCI

Pick: SJAM 63, KCI 56
