Brampton Notre Dame is back in Waterloo this weekend, seeking to win a second consecutive "Knights-Vikings Roundball Classic" title.
Last season, Notre Dame squeaked by Stoney Creek's Orchard Park (who went on to be the #5 seed at OFSAA AAA) by a 58-56 score. Orchard Park is back again this year with a strong club.
The top local schools last year were Bluevale & Forest Heights, who were eliminated in the semifinals. Guelph's JF Ross were the consolation champions.
Anyways, here's the draw for Friday first round games:
(At Bluevale)
12:30pm - Bluevale vs. Stratford St. Mike's (Pick: Bluevale)
2:00pm - Kitchener St. Mary's vs Guelph JF Ross (Pick: St. Mary's)
3:30pm - Orchard Park vs. Owen Sound CVI (Pick: OP)
5:00pm - Forest Hts. vs Peterborough Thomas A. Stewart SS (Pick: FHCI)
(At WCI)
12:30pm - WCI vs. Chatham-Kent (Pick: WCI)
2:00pm - Guelph St. James vs. Brampton Notre Dame (Pick: Notre Dame)
3:30pm - Grand River vs. St. David (Pick: St. David)
5:00pm - SJAM vs. Stratford Central (Pick: SJAM)
....couple of nice "CWOSSA" games in the first round (GRCI/SDCSS and St. Mary's/Ross). We should probably see about 6 or so CWOSSA teams in championship quarterfinal action, with a couple potential great games again between CWOSSA clubs depending on how first round action goes.
....props to the tournament organizers for making the draw very balanced on both sides of the bracket.
