Glenview Park 24, Waterloo CI 17
The GPSS Panthers pick up their first win on the season and, in the process, keep the WCI Vikes winless. A bright spot for WCI has been the play of Sarah Coghlin, and she led the way again for the Vikes with 6 points. Jocelyn Kivell was tops for GPSS with 8.
Huron Heights 37, SJAM 35
The Huskies eke out a win over SJAM --- also their first win of the year. They got a huge performance from Emily Bidinosti, who scored 18 in the win. Aly Jacobs also chipped in 5 for the Huskies, while Jillian Reiter (11) and Katie Fowler (10) led the way for the Highlanders.
Waterloo-Oxford 53, Forest Heights 7
Look out for the Crusaders this year. After being nipped by the Hespeler Hawks, they take out some frustrations on the FHCI Trojans and cruised to an easy victory on Thursday. WODSS' Maddie Horst scored in double figures for the third straight contest (10 points).
Elmira 41, Galt 20
The Lancers are now 2-0 after handling the Ghosts at home. Krista Weins was tops on this night for Elmira, with 14; Julia Frey, Emilie Mechler and Emily Sider all added 6 each. Cass Ramlal was tops for GCI with 6.
Jacob Hespeler 54, Eastwood 30
The Hawks improve to 3-0 on the campaign, backed by big performances from Brooklynn Wright (19) and Naomi Adams (16). The Rebels received 9 each from Lori Stankiewicz and Reihanne Scott.
Grand River 31, KCI 22
I stopped in while doing an after-work run to check out a bit of this match-up between these two undefeated clubs and it was definitely a defensive struggle. After being tied at half (13-13), the Rens used a second-half run to gradually pull away and earn their third straight win for first-year coach Scott Reynolds. Ana Milanovic (10) and Steph Schumacher (8) were the high scorers for GRCI, while Christiana Koebel had another big game for KCI with 14 points. She's actually scored exactly half of KCI's points during regular season contests (47 of 94).
Bluevale 47, Preston 30
The Knights were able to withstand an 18-point effort from PHS' Ashley White and win their third straight to start the year, while concurrently handing the Panthers their first loss on the campaign. Natalie Bishop (11) and Sarah Hamm (10) contributed double-digit efforts for the Knights.
Cameron Heights 37, Southwood 35
In what looks like it was the best game of the day, Cameron Heights nipped Southwood at home. Ashanti Lewis (14) and Cathy Bekhyt (11) led the Gaels to victory in this one, while Cali Doran was again high-scorer for SSS with 11 as well.
