Already down 3 starters (due to a field trip) for their game against the Guelph CVI Gaels on Thursday, things got even worse for the CWOSSA #2 St. James Lions as starting PG Chelsey Gazzola was forced from the game due to injury.
So, down 4 players from their 10-player roster, and heavily reliant on some junior call-ups, the Lions clearly weren't themselves in a 52-34 loss to GCVI.
One of those junior call-ups, Stephanie Giovinazzo, had the unique distinction of being one of the Lions' top two scorers in both the senior game (10) and junior game (8).
Sydney Wilson poured in 20 points to lead the Gaels.
In other games on Thursday:
JF Ross 30, Orangeville 19
My Pick: JFR by 27
A bit closer than the first time these squads met, but Ross picks up the win regardless. Teddi Taran had 15 for the Royals, while Sam French netted 11 for ODSS.
Lourdes 49, CWDHS 15
My Pick: OLOL by 29
Charlotte Case (18), Monica Trimble (12) and Alana Toms (11) were all in double-figures for Lourdes yesterday; Chloe Trapp had 10 to lead the Falcons.
