After trailing for most of the game, including by 5 (44-39) after three quarters, the Jacob Hespeler Hawks saved their best for last by coming back in the waning seconds and stunning Bluevale 51-48 on a late basket by PG Jasmine Ramcharan.Both teams now have one loss, though Hespeler vaults ahead of Bluevale in the standings based upon overall record (5-1 vs. 4-1).
Sisters were on the scoresheet in full force on Thursday as Courtney (19) and Candice (14) Wright led the way for JHSS on Thursday, while Sarah Hamm (16) and Rachael Hamm (9) topped the Bluevale attack.
Meanwhile, KCI survived a near upset at the hands of Huron Heights, winning by the slimmest of margins, 42-41.
Four Huron Heights players accounted for all 41 points, all of them in double figures. Of those, Katrina Kostecki led the way with 11. Olivia Nelles also scored 11 for the Raiders.
