With one game left in the D8 regular season, it won't do too much to impact the standings.....but let's just say it was a good day to be busy and not make any picks yesterday.
The Woodland Cavaliers defeated a shorthanded St. David Celtics squad by a 32-17 final, picking up their second win of the year in the process (2-7). St. David is now 4-5.
Julianna Thomson (14) led the way for Woodland, with Kirstin Hofstee adding 7. Maria Valeria had 5 points for the Celtics.
St. David will now play St. Benedict (also 4-5) on Wednesday for the #3 seed in the D8 standings. Had the Celtics won on Monday, St. Benedict would have needed to win by 8+ points to capture the #3 seed.
In other senior games on Monday, Resurrection handled Rockway with ease (41-16) to remain at the top of the D8 standings pile.
Kelsey Caza (8) and Ellen McGowan (7) led the way for Rez in that one.
St. Mary's, meanwhile, kept pace with Resurrection with a 46-33 win over St. Benedict. Sydney Greulich and Angela Mercurio had 8 each for SMHS, while Kayla Leusink had a game-high 12 for the Saints.
