WCSSAA Junior: 4 Teams With 7+ Wins Through 8 Games

The rich get richer.

The top four WCSSAA junior programs --- KCI, Jacob Hespeler, Grand River and Preston --- all posted wins on Thursday, with the first three moving to 8-0 and Preston improving to 7-1.

KCI's win, of course, was of the "bye win" variety as they had Southwood on the schedule.

The other three posted comfortable wins by 20+ points.

Here's the game recaps:

Grand River 59, Cameron Hts. 36
Nancy Michael poured in 24 points and Maya Day added 23 more for the Rens, who took out Cameron Heights although the Gaels registered their highest point total of the year against one of the league's top teams.  Jovana Zubic (10) and Emma Atkinson (8) led Cameron.

Bluevale 35, Forest Hts. 22
The Knights got a much needed win on Thursday, with Megan Reid and Kiera Grein chipping in 6 each.  Sona Khalifeh had a game-high 12 for the Trojans.

Jacob Hespeler 41, WODSS 13
Jessica Kennell (9) and Shianne Riggan (9) helped keep the Hawks perfect with a win at W-O.  Justina Meneses and Katherine Gerber had 4 apiece for the Crusaders.

Preston 42, Huron Hts. 21
Claire Gagne netted 8 for Preston's balanced attack in their win over the Huskies, moving the Panthers to 7-1.

SJAM 39, Eastwood 19
Don't look now but the Highlanders are in the thick of things at 6-2.  Joanna Bamberger (13) and Milica Koprivica (11) provided double digit efforts for SJAM on Thursday, while Mariah Blake (6) and Emma Miller (5) led the way for ECI.

Elmira 32, WCI 31
After a bye-win on Tuesday, the Lancers extended their winning streak and picked up their first "real win" of the year, a 1-point squeaker over WCI.  Marlee Kernick had 11 for the Lancers; Ramla Abdalla scored a game-high 12 for WCI with Andreea Gradinaru added 10.

Galt 40, Glenview Park 19
Emma Buck (9) and Erin Wilson (7) helped the Ghosts move to 5-3.  Darcy Simmons led the Panthers with 5.
