As expected, the Bluevale Knights and Huron Heights Huskies posted wins on Tuesday afternoon in the only two WCSSAA games on the schedule.
The Huskies knocked off SJAM by a 38-25 final, with Aly Jacobs contributing 12 in the win. Taylor Trush had a game-high 16 for SJAM.
The win actually vaults the Huskies to 8th place in the WCSSAA standings (4-5), percentage points ahead of the Southwood Sabres (3-4), though the Sabres still have two games in hand.
Speaking of those Sabres, they dropped a 57-28 decision to Bluevale at home yesterday in a make-up game for one of their two dates that were affected by the Southwood fire. Natalie Bishop (15) and Julia Curran (14) led Bluevale, while Megan Cole had a game-high 19 for the Sabres.
The win moves Bluevale to 7-1, and into a tie with WCI for 3rd place overall in the standings. Those two teams are scheduled to meet next Tuesday on a day that sees several key games scheduled.
Yesterday's lone junior game saw SJAM upend Huron Heights 42-24. Deri Curtin had 14 for the Highlanders, while Stephanie Bidinosti netted 11 for Huron.
