D5 Thursday: Lions, Trojans Big Game on Schedule Tonight

Tonight's D5 action in Brantford sees an intriguing matchup that should help to sort out (for now) the logjam at the top of the D5 standings.

The North Park Trojans and Assumption Lions will face-off, both teams entering the game with identical 4-1 records through the first "loop" of the schedule.  St. John's is right alongside the two squads with a 4-1 mark as well.

To further complicate matters, all of the three above teams have beaten each other in their respective games (ACS over NPC, STJ over ACS, NPC over STJ).

A North Park loss on Tuesday would virtually eliminate any chance of the Trojans obtaining top spot overall in the standings, as Assumption would then be one game up in the loss column and hold the tiebreak (2 wins to 0) in the season series.

A win, however, may not be the only thing that NPC is seeking in this one.  Having lost the opener between these two teams 46-39, the Trojans will need a 7+ point victory on Tuesday to claim the point differential tiebreak should these teams end up tied in the season series (which they would with an NPC win).

Confused yet?

Sure, there's still a ton of basketball to be played in Brant County, but today's game will surely be huge in determining how the chips will fall into place come playoff time.
