The St. John's Eagles held off a furious rally by the North Park Trojans in Brantford on Thursday night to (for now) have top spot in the D5 league to themselves.
The Eagles, though, held a 19-point lead which NPC was able to whittle all the way down to 3 points before the final buzzer sounded.
Although NPC (who beat STJ by 5 earlier) would have the head-to-head tiebreak with the Eagles, they would need the Assumption Lions to beat St. John's in their second regular season game.
