Coaches might start paying a little more attention to Southwood's Taylor White.
The explosive-scoring Sabre poured in 27 of her team's 35 points, and the Sabres needed every one of them as they held on to topple the Galt Ghosts 35-33 on Tuesday.
White has averaged 17.7 PPG over her last 7 league contests; her 27 matched her season high (against GRCI) and was her second consecutive 20+ outing.
The win was big for Southwood, as they move into a massive logjam tied for 8th (3-5). The Ghosts, who received 8 points each from Molly Bradford and Kadija Mohamed, fall to 1-7.
Here's the other junior scores from Tuesday:
Forest Heights 34, Eastwood 31
Eastwood came close at home to pulling a big upset, but the Trojans escape and move to 6-2, thanks to Shannon Scott (13) and Linna Liou (11). Sam Legue (11) and Kayla Shantz (8) paced ECI.
KCI 34, Glenview Park 18
The Raiders keep pace at the top of the standings as they eased past GPSS. Adrienne Bowra (8) and Kelsey Dawe (8) again paced KCI, while Emilie Lutz had 10 and Jocelyn Kivell 3 for Glenview.
Elmira 41, Jacob Hespeler 39
This battle between 5-2 teams (entering play) did not disappoint as it came down to the wire. It also featured some nice scoring efforts on both sides. For Elmira, Nicole Cressman had 15 and Bailey Bond 11, while JHSS was paced by Courtney Wright (17) and Candice Wright (13).
Huron Heights 37, Preston 32
An important win for Preston to give them a great shot at making the playoffs. Jenna Gangl had 14 and Katrina Kostecki 7 in the win, while PHS saw Breanna Johnson score a game-high 15. Michaella Starratt and Erin McCarthy also had 6 each for Preston.
Bluevale 48, SJAM 23
Not really a surprise despite the 2-5 Knights knocking off the 3-4 Highlanders by a large margin, but more reflective of the difficult schedule BCI has played to this point. Kailee Sawyer had 9 and Julia Curran 8 for Bluevale, while Brianna Illitshishin had 7 and Safina Husein 6 for the 'Landers.
WCI 41, Grand River 28
The battle between the top two AAAA teams goes to WCI, thanks to Kaylee Anagnostopoulos' 17 points. Isabella Kellerman added 9 for the Vikes, while Leslie Ogalvie and Mackenzie Miller had 7 apiece for the Rens.
WODSS 66, Cameron Heights 29
The Crusaders appear to be on a collision course with the Vikes for the WCSSAA finals, as a result of another big win, this time against Cameron. Becca Payne (22) and Madison Horst (14) led the way for the Crusaders, while Shama Saleh had 13 and Omnia Osman 8 for Cameron.
