WCSSAA Junior: Crusaders Keep Rolling

Can anyone stop the Waterloo-Oxford Crusaders?

The Crusaders went to a 9-0 mark by rolling over the Forest Heights Trojans (who were 6-2 entering play, I might add) by a 63-27 final on Thursday afternoon.

Madison Horst (19) and Kayla Burrough (17) led the way for WODSS while Tameika Elliot (8) and Linna Liou (7) topped the Trojan scoresheet.

Through 9 games, W-O has displayed a lethal combination of offense and defense.  Defensively, not a single opponent has been able to crack the 30 point barrier.  On offense, WODSS has hit 63 or more points three times, and 54 or more points 5 times.

Add it all up and they are outscoring their opponents by an average of 53-20 a game.

Not too shabby.

Their biggest test of the year will come next week against the also undefeated WCI Vikings, on the road at WCI.  As of right now, it looks as though these two clubs are on a collision course for a matchup in the WCSSAA finals, but there's still a lot of ball to be played.

Here's the rest of Thursday's WCSSAA action:

WCI 46, Bluevale 31
Kaylee Anagnostopoulos scored 14 and Olivia Bender 12 as the Vikes take this rivalry game.  Kailee Sawyer had 9 and Leah DenHartogh 8 for BCI.

Grand River 48, Cameron Hts 41
A balanced Grand River scoring effort, led by 11 points from Mackenzie Miller, was able to hold off Cameron on Thursday.  Tonisha Lewis and Hunter Johns had 14 each for CHCI.

Preston 29, Glenview Park 20
The Panthers pick up their first win of the year and stay alive in the chase for a playoff spot.  Hayley McGoldrick led PHS with 10, while Breanna Johnson added 6.  GPSS received 9 from Emilie Lutz and 6 from Josie Makcrow.

Eastwood 24, SJAM 15
Big win for ECI as they move into a tie for the final playoff position by beating SJAM in a defensive struggle.  Mel Samuel had a big night, pouring in 14, while Maja Zivkovic added 4.  Breanna Ilitshishin had 5 and Danielle Schaefer 4 for the Landers.

Jacob Hespeler 39, Southwood 30
Candice Wright poured in 21 and Jasmine Ramcharan added 10 as the Hawks moved to 6-3 on the season by getting past Southwood.  Taylor White scored 26 of SSS' 30 points, with Shayla Carey notching the other 4.

Elmira 46, Galt 27
Elmira used a balanced effort --- Nicole Cressman (10), Karley Sider (9) and Kelsie Freeman (9) --- to get past GCI.  Cassandra Ramlal had a game-high 12 for Galt, with Sydney Schouten adding 6.

KCI 54, Huron Hts 37
The Raiders moved closer to a potential first-round bye with a home win against Huron.  Alia Hazineh (13) and Amy Graves (10) topped the Raider scoresheet on Thursday, while Huron received 12 from Aly Jacobs and 10 from Jenna Gangl.
