D8 Wednesday: Eagles Sweep Celtics

Here are Wednesday's results on a relatively quiet day in the D8 league:

Junior

St. Mary's 27, St. David 19
Angela Mercurio had 11 and Brittany Gulic 6 as the Eagles pick up an important win.  Bobbi Hentges replied with 6 for SDCSS.  The 8-point margin was key, as SMHS now would own the season-series tiebreak as a result of +/- (the Celtics took the first game by only 4).

Monsignor Doyle 47, Rockway 19
Things seem to be heading in the right direction for Rockway, who had scored 35 points in their first 6 games, but 19 on Wednesday.  Aleisha Taylor (11) and Taylor Fitzpatrick (10) led the way for the 'Stangs, while Courtney Brubacher, Sarah Moslehi and Ashlee Steffens all had 4 each for the Flames.

Junior D8 Standings
1.  Resurrection 6-0
2.  St. David 5-2
3.  St. Mary's 4-3
4.  St. Benedict 2-3
5.  Mons. Doyle 2-4
6.  Rockway 0-7

Senior

Monsignor Doyle 46, Rockway 34
My Pick:  MDCSS
Jade Loehle and Marley Gray poured in 17 points each as the 'Stangs picked up a key home win to stay ahead of St. David in the standings.  Emma Kschesinski (9) and Stephanie Veltri (8) led Rockway.

St. Mary's 49, St. David 10
My Pick:  SMHS
The SMHS reserves starred in this contest, and played some impressive defense while they were at it.  Leading the way for the Eagles on Wednesday were Jenn Joseph (10), Emma Jada (8) and Treisha-Lee Thompson (8).

Senior D8 Standings
1.  St. Mary's 7-0*
2.  Resurrection 4-2
3.  St. Benedict 3-2
4.  Mons. Doyle 3-3
5.  St. David 2-5
6.  Rockway 0-7
