So, nobody noticed that I picked CHCI, but in the results page mistyped that I had picked FHCI? Good thing I caught that myself, otherwise I might have chalked up an incorrect pick incorrectly (say that a few times fast).
Anyways, the WCSSAA YTD record now stands at 40-9 (.816). I've given myself a slim cushion above my 80% goal but there are a couple tricky games on the schedule today:
KCI (1-6) at Glenview Park (2-5)
My Pick: KCI
The KCI Raiders showed well in the Southwood tournament, and are continually improving. After several close calls (reference: EDSS game), I like them to come through with their first actual win of the year here (their other was the "bye win" over WODSS).
Bluevale (7-0) at SJAM (1-6)
My Pick: BCI
Although the Waterloo rivalry games are always intense, the Knights shouldn't have too many problems today on the road --- unless they're looking ahead to playing WCI on Thursday, of course. BCI to win handily here.
Southwood (4-3) at Galt (2-5)
My Pick: SSS
The Southwood Sabres will continue their "mini-roll" on the road today at Galt in this rivalry game between Galt-based schools. Look for a potentially close game here though.
Grand River (1-6) at WCI (7-0)
My Pick: WCI
As if things weren't bad enough for the GRCI Renegades already, they took another hit when star player Kailey DeBoer injured her ankle last week. She'll be out for this game, and likely a couple more. With several tough upcoming games (CHCI, EDSS, etc.), I think their playoff aspirations will likely come down to the final game of the season against SJAM. WCI to roll here.
Elmira (4-3) at Jacob Hespeler (6-1) **Game of the Day**
My Pick: JHSS
The Lancers could really use a win here against another AAA school ahead of them in the standings, but I'll play it safe and go with the homecourt Hawks.
Forest Heights (4-3) at Eastwood (5-2)
My Pick: ECI
Two of the top pure scorers in the league here, with Blair McNaughton (FHCI) and Michelle Hudyn (ECI). Eastwood, though, has more depth and should get the W at home.
Preston (6-1) at Huron Heights (0-7)
My Pick: PHS
The Panthers are slowly moving towards the meaty part of their schedule (CHCI, JHSS, EDSS) but they'll do their part in moving towards securing a first-round bye with another win here today.
