D8: Monday Results

Don't look now, but the new kids on the block are spoiling the party.

The Woodland Cavaliers, making a return to D8 senior girls' basketball this year, moved to 3-0 on the season after getting past the St. Benedict Saints 32-31 on the road yesterday evening.

Kirstin Hofstee (8) and Emma Roorda (8) led the way for WCHS, while Hilary Ferguson had a game-high 13 points and Brooke Wanklin netted 12.

Meanwhile, what was supposed to be a close game didn't turn out as such as the St. Mary's Eagles could not contain Rez's scoring machine, Sarah Schulz.  Schulz poured in 24 points, equalling the Eagles outpout in a 45-24 win.  Andrea Phillippi (7) and Sara Fleiszig (6) also had solid outings for Rez, while Sydney Greulich (6) and Monica Januszek (6) paced St. Mary's.
