WCSSAA Senior: Tuesday Results

One wrong on Tuesday, so congrats to the ECI Rebels who picked up their first (regular season) win of the year by topping SJAM at home in a 36-27 final.  Had SJAM tabbed by 6 in that one, so I certainly viewed it as a "toss-up" affair.

Mel Samuel notched 15 and Sam Legue 12 for Eastwood, while Malena McCrossan-Moses had 10 and Sam Fowler 7 for the 'Landers.

Meanwhile, the "game of the day" between the two remaining unbeatens wasn't as close as (I) anticipated as the WCI Vikings surged to a 67-28 win over the WODSS Crusaders.  Lindsay Taylor and Julia Pavlik poured in 15 each in the win, while Maddy Horst (13) and Alisha Glendinning (10) combined to lead the Crusaders.

Here's the rest of Tuesday's action:

Southwood 30, KCI 28
My Pick:  SSS by 14
Showed a little too much love to the Sabres in my picks column and it nearly cost me.  However, they hung on at the end for an important win, especially in terms of the "AAA" playoff picture.  Nicole Barnard had 10 and Taylor White 7 for the Sabres, while Nikaya Snell (8) and Olivia Nelles (7) paced KCI.

Bluevale 55, Forest Heights 26
My Pick:  BCI by 18
The Knights were all over the Trojans on Tuesday and came away with a key win to stay in the hunt for one of the first-round byes.  Natalie Bishop, who had 20 points, led three Knights in double-figures; Sarah Hamm (10) and Julia Curran (10) were the others.  Blair McNaughton led the Trojans with 14.

Galt 33, Glenview Park 22
My Pick:  GCI by 5
Galt picked up their first win on Tuesday, backed by 11 points from Allie Buchanan and 8 more by Ashlyn Beckman.  Justine Schwier had a game-high 13 for Glenview, while Jocelyn Kivell added 5.

Jacob Hespeler 56, Huron Heights 13
My Pick:  JHSS by 32
Brooklyn Wright poured in 17 and Naomi Adams added 13 more as the 'Hawks rolled in advance of their big showdown against WODSS on Thursday.  Rachel Wilkinson led the Huskies with 5.

Elmira 50, Preston 46
My Pick:  EDSS by 4
Although the Lancers didn't quite contain Ashley White (26 points for Preston) as I said they'd need to do in my picks column, Elmira had enough offensive firepower to get past the Panthers in Preston.  Krista Wiens netted 19 and Amy Hachman 14 for EDSS, while Breanna Johnson added 9 alongside White's effort for Preston.

Cameron Heights 71, Grand River 61
My Pick:  CHCI by 18
The Rens have been competitive with several of the top teams now, having been within 5 points of the Gaels in this one with 2:00 to play.  The Rens limited birthday girl Liz McLellan to 17 points, but Hunter Johns stepped up for the Gaels and poured in a huge 34-point effort.  Kailey DeBoer had 19 and Leticia Skeete 17 for Grand River.
