Senior WCSSAA Tuesday: Hawks Knock Trojans From Unbeaten Ranks

The Jacob Hespeler Hawks are coming together nicely.

After winning the tournament championship at the "Shoot For the Cure" event in Guelph this past weekend, JHSS took things to the visiting Forest Heights Trojans, handing them their first WCSSAA loss in a 52-24 romp.

Grade 10's Courtney Wright (18 points) and Candice Wright (15 points) led the way for the Hawks on Tuesday; Blair McNaughton had a solid effort for the Trojans as she finished with 17.

Here's a look at the other scores on Tuesday:

WCI 65, KCI 23
My Pick:  WCI by 27
The Vikes rolled in another battle of the unbeatens, thanks in part to Lindsay Taylor (27) and Alex Klein (17).  Olivia Nelles had 8 and Christiana Koebel 7 for the Raiders.

Elmira 29, Eastwood 26
My Pick:  EDSS by 9
The Lancers pick up their first win of the year, although it certainly wasn't easy in this defensive affair.  Krista Wiens had 9 to lead Elmira, with Amy Hachman contributing 7.  Mel Samuel had a game-high 10 for ECI, while Meagan Karai netted 8.

Waterloo-Oxford 57, Southwood 45
My Pick:  WODSS by 17
The high-scoring Crusader backcourt was at it again on Tuesday, as Maddy Horst poured in 26 points while Becca Payne added 14 and WODSS stayed undefeated.  Taylor White had 16 and Nicole Barnard 13 for Southwood.

SJAM 32, Preston 29
My Pick:  PHS by 5

My lone incorrect selection on Tuesday was this game that I thought would be tight.  Malena McCrossan (9) and Kate Fowler (8) topped the 'Lander scoring, while Ashley White (16) and Breanna Johnson (12) accounted for virtually all of the Panther points.

Grand River 50, Glenview Park 26
My Pick:  GRCI by 19
Kailey DeBoer had 12 points to lead the Rens to their second league win of the season.  Jocelyn Kivell poured in a game-high 15 for Glenview in a losing effort.

Cameron Hts. 57, Galt 21
My Pick:  CHCI by 31
Liz McLellan (24) hit for more points than the Ghosts on Tuesday, while fellow Gael Kayla Batista added 8.  Melissa Smith (8) and Ashlyn Beckman (4) were the top Galt scorers.

Bluevale 59, Huron Heights 34
My Pick:  BCI by 33
Grade 10 Kailee Sawyer had 18 points while Natalie Bishop added 14 and the Knights also remain unbeaten after a win at HHSS.  Aly Jacobs had 10 and Jenna Gangl 9 for Huron.
