WCSSAA Junior Thursday: Rens Tested By Bluevale, Stay Perfect

The Grand River Renegades haven't had much experience playing in close games.

Having won by large margins in most of their games this year, the Rens received their first "true test" of the season but came through on the positive side of the scoreline, holding off the Bluevale Knights 51-43 yesterday afternoon at Grand River.

The win moved GRCI to a 6-0 mark, while Bluevale drops to 4-2.  Maya Day led the winners with 12, while Nyamuoch Teny had 11.  Rachael Hamm netted a game-high 19 for Bluevale, with Megan Reid also in double-figures with 10.

Here's a shakedown of the rest of Thursday's scores:

JHSS - bye win (over SSS)
CHCI - bye win (over ECI)

WCI 41, SJAM 29
The Vikes helped separate the logjam of 4-1 teams by dropping the 'Landers to 4-2 with a home win.  Dani Sauve netted 15 and Olivia Bender added 10 for WCI; Milica Koprivica had 14 for SJAM.

Elmira 40, Galt 19
The Lancers are 5-1 after doubling-up the Ghosts in Cambridge.  Nicole Cressman led the way with 12, while Kelsey Freeman added 8.  Emma Buck (10) and Amy Cureton (4) led Galt.

Forest Hts. 42, WODSS 26
Sona Khalifth had a huge Thursday, outscoring the Crusaders as she poured in 27 points.  Rylee Mitchell-Becker had 7 and Payton Hofstetter 6 to lead WODSS.

KCI 41, Huron Hts 16
Alia Hazineh (7) and Leah McBain (6) topped a balanced KCI scoresheet in the win, while Buse Celik and Kiana Chin had 4 each for the Huskies.

Preston 30, Glenview Park 26
This all-Cambridge Panther battle was a close one, but Preston came out on top.  Emilie Lutz had a game-high 18 for GPSS; Preston was led by Kristen May (10) and Avery Levert (9).
